Discover the Benefits of Assisted Living
My friend Mavis complained about everything. Conversations were boringly negative and repetitive until one just did not want to be with her anymore. Friends began compiling lists of excuses not to visit. Mavis would harp about cooking for one person, dust so thick you could write the date in it, stacks of laundry, no fun places to go, missing church services because she didn’t drive, and oohh… those aches and pains! Every day, a new grumble. While at a family reunion, a cousin who heard Mavis complaining began talking about the great time she was having at an Assisted Living community in a neighboring state. She encouraged Mavis to start looking for one.
Mavis began to think. “Perhaps if I lived in one of those new Senior Communities, I would have fewer worries. Quite a few friends have moved, and I hardly see them anymore; they seem to always be busy.”
So, to make a long story short, here’s what transpired and how Mavis changed. She took the first step, called Bridge to Better Living for No-Cost assistance, met with a Transition Consultant who went with Mavis on tours, and soon found one matching her criteria and personality. Mavis MOVED after discovering the benefits of assisted living!
And this is what Mavis discovered:
- A variety of nutritious, healthy meals are served by trained kitchen staff three times a day. If ill, meals are delivered to her room. Conversations with tablemates were enjoyable and memorable.
- Apartments cleaned weekly or as needed (accidents do happen). Laundry service is offered with linens changed weekly.
- Activity Directors who schedule off-campus events (theater, concerts, sports, day trips) and have staff escort for assistance. Card games, bridge, indoor marathons, book clubs, visiting performances, crafts… just a few choices offered regularly within the community.
- Religious services streamed or led by visiting religious leaders. Bible study groups for those who were interested.
Assisted Living communities are regulated by states and may vary by state. Typically, an RN is available 24/7 to oversee care plans ordered by physicians for individual residents. Certified Nursing Aides (CNAs) and Medical Assistants are on site 24/7. Residents are given alert devices to use should they need help. Medication is dispensed by certified staff. Physical and Occupational therapists visit or have space in a community to maintain physical health. Fitness centers are now a must, and many communities have qualified trainers to design individual programs, while smaller communities may have basic equipment.
Now Mavis has nothing to complain about, and her friends and family enjoy her company.
Thanks to Bridge to Better Living, Mavis and her new friends are thriving while enjoying a better quality of life. Spread sunshine into everyone’s day by contacting Bridge to Better Living. You will never regret doing so.
